A supplier quote is the beginning of a price decision, not the final cost of acquiring goods in the destination market.
Start with the facts
Build the model from product cost, origin handling, main carriage, insurance, destination handling and inland delivery. Add estimated duties and taxes using the applicable classification and origin.
Build the operating plan
Separate recoverable taxes from true cost, and distinguish fixed fees from charges that scale with volume. Model foreign exchange, inspection, storage, demurrage and a clearly labelled contingency.
Validate the handoffs
Compare scenarios at the same delivery point. A low ex-works quote and a delivered quote cannot be ranked directly until responsibilities are normalized.
Close the loop
Treat the model as a planning tool. Confirm live tariff rates, exemptions and tax treatment with the appointed customs broker or tax adviser.
This guide is general information. Requirements and commercial conditions vary by jurisdiction, product and date. Confirm a live transaction with the relevant licensed professionals.
